Last weekend I committed to keeping you all up to date with our planning and thinking as we prepare for the return of rugby. As such and as promised here is the latest update on the senior playing review;

Our first priority was to identify and put in place a new Head of Rugby as soon as possible, and on this basis a number of online conversations took place early last week, as a result we finally approached and made an offer to Matt Heeks to take on the role of Head of Rugby at Bracknell RFC.

This wasn’t a difficult decision as Matt has impressed us all since joining the club at the beginning of the season. This decision was made easier by a number of senior players advising we shouldn’t be looking any further than Matt.

So I’m delighted to announce that Matt has accepted the role of Head of Rugby with a remit that is primarily focused on the 1st XV squad but has wider responsibility for other areas of senior playing.

We also felt it important to begin securing the services of the wider coaching team, which Matt has already made some significant progress on.

As such, we are pleased to announce that Barney Maddison has agreed to continue as Assistant/Forwards coach and we have formalised Danny Mays role as our Strength & Conditioning Coach.

I hope you will agree that significant, positive & exciting progress has been made this week and I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating Matt, Barney & Danny in their respective roles.

The work will continue behind the scenes as much as the self-isolation allows with Matt and his coaching team making the necessary preparations for when rugby returns.

Finally, we will ensure you are kept fully up to speed with any news & our progress over the coming days & weeks.
