It was busy for the Club over the weekend (11th/12th November) with four men’s teams taking the field
Saturday’s proceedings started with Lunch supported by the U 14s parents players and supporters who were raising funds for their forthcoming tour to Hilversum (Holland). Before kick Off v Marlborough there was a two minutes silence and a haunting trumpet solo of the Last Post and Reveille.
The first ten minutes of the match mirrored the previous week with Marlborough taking a 3-0 lead. One minute before half time the score was 10-9 with Bracknell having scored two tries with Marlborough camped on Bracknell’s line and with numerous attempts to drive over. After brilliant defence the ball was turned over and run the length of the pitch. HT Score 17-9
The first half did not give a clue as to what was to happen in the second half when Bracknell cut loose to score a further Six tries and totally control territory. Final score was 53-9 with Noah Cannon scoring 7 tries overall. It is believed this is a club record in a League Match.
Next week the team travels to top of the league Havant in what will be the toughest test so far this season.
The second XV travelled and met a strong Chinnor 3rd XV with a weakened side and were well beaten 54-7.
The Third XV had a pleasing win, 26-20, against Farnham Royal 1st XV. The Thirds move up to third in their league.
Reading III were too strong for the Clubs 4th XV which lost 46-21 and which remains rooted to the bottom of the league.
Sunday was also busy.
The Colts travelled and lost heartbreakingly to a strong Marlow XV 20-19 in their BBO league match (Div1).
U16s boys lost 5-8 to Oxford and the U14s A boys lost a Berkshire Cup Match 12-0 to Rams RFC.
The Girls U14s playing bravely managed to hold on to Basingstoke RFC until late in the second half when they conceded 3 tries losing overall 4 tries to seven.
The Girls U 16s played Winchester RFC in the fourth match at home with the final result being 33-0 to Bracknell.
A Remembrance Day’s silence was observed before all home games and training sessions.
