New Academy U18 Squad excited by things to come

New Academy U18 Squad excited by things to come

Dave Ruddle28 Aug - 10:52

Full list of all the Academy's League, Cup and friendly fixtures are now out and can be found on the club's Academy website.

Bracknell's Academy squad have a busy weekend ahead of them as they take on Newbury Colts in a preseason 'Curtain Raiser' game (1pm ko) before our 1XV men game (3pm) on 31st August. With the club also holding a family fun day the lads are hoping to show they skills in front of a large crowd and then give their own support to our seniors side.

On Sunday 1st Sept, Rams Colts have kindly invited the squad over to play in a preseason '4 way' event where the whole Academy squad will be pitting their rugby wits against Rams, Chinnor and Newbury.

With healthy preseason training numbers, these two days of Rugby will provide the coaching team a great opportunity to give the players lots of game time in different set ups and teams, against strong oppositions, ahead of a busy league and cup campaign.

The lads are excited for these games and more so the season ahead where our 1XV will be hosting a strong Windsor side in the first round of the National U18's Cup competition at Lilly Hill Park on Sunday 22nd Sept. If they get passed Windsor and its onto face either Maidenhead or Grasshopper, get through that and they could be facing last year's outright winners, Dorking!

Our Academy 1XV start their OBB Div 1 campaign against Amersham and Chiltern (away) on 29th Sept and will also battle against Maidenhead, Oxford Harlequins, Chinnor, Newbury, Rams, Windsor and Marlow throughout the season in a fight for top spot.

Our Academy 2XV head off to Shipston Colts A on the 29th Sept as they start their OBB Div 3 journey. Along the way they will face the likes of Gosford All Blacks, Reading Abbey, Wallingford, Oxford, Windsor B, Henley, Maidenhead B and Didcot.

Also, the Academy have many friendly fixtures arranged in the gaps between the league and cup campaigns so there will be lots of opportunities to come along and support the lads throughout the season.
